If there is one thing that college and graduate school taught me about myself, it is that I hate cheaters. So, it was with somewhat of a guilty conscience that Dan and I headed out for a photo safari this weekend at the Santa Barbara Zoo - the photographers' version of cheating. However, we quickly recovered from any guilt, and a fun time was had by all! We got there nice and early (before it got too hot) and the zoo was very sparsely populated (by people - there were plenty of animals!).
Some souvenirs from our photo safari:
Snow Leopard
Macaw
Strange Asian Dove with strange human in background!
Wow our zoo even has a cow exhibit!
The zoo was spookily decorated for the "Boo at the Zoo" event which is running during the evenings this week. So we took Nory to the pumpkin patch where she could eat straw for the first time and bang on this pumpkin.
To top off our wonderful weekend, this evening we went to a free community kid halloween concert at a park.
Cutest cow, ever!

truly the cutest cow in the universe! Thanks for sharing
love you guys
aw! it looks like you guys had so much fun! And, great picture of the weird bird...it's my second favorite. It's really the cow at the zoo that takes my breath away;)
She's getting so big!
Keep on sharing. We love seeing the pics. The cute little cow sure gets around! Loved Nory and the pumpkin drum too. Maybe a drum set in her future??? Looks like you had a great time. Loved the weird human behind the "Strange Asian Dove"... It was my 3rd favorite...
We saw that fuzzy headed purple pheasant in a zoo in thailand but can't remember the name. Nice pics as usual, and as others have mentioned we really like the cow too.
