We're Californian

According to the state of California, Dan and I are now officially residents. We both passed our Drivers License test this morning, and smog checked and registered our car. Sigh. The California DMV does nothing, on their part, to help welcome you to the state - it took over 2 hours of bureaucracy to accomplish 15 minutes of forms and exams. The whole process is designed to make you regret leaving behind your former state residency (which I do). They even ceremonially punched a hole in our Washington state licenses. Farewell, Washington! Save us a spot for when we come back!

Here they don't even let us keep our old licenses...Apparently in Texas it's ILLEGAL to possess more than one (even expired). They wouldn't punch mine (I was rebelling against having to eventually give up my WA license--didn't want a TX one), and they wouldn't give me a TX one until I surrendered my WA one. I should've said I lost it. Stinkin' Texas.

We're wishing we were Californian. It's snowed something like 7 inches up here and there's no way to get around. Peter's bouncing off the walls. I'd gladly sign over my drivers license for some sunshine :). Maybe I'm just a fairweather washingtonian.
