San Francisco Treats

This weekend Dan and I went to San Francisco to celebrate my dear ol' daddy's 60th birthday. He's officially grandpa age now! We had a wonderful time and did all sorts of fun San Franciscan activities. Even though both my parents grew up in the area and I've been a million times to visit my grandparents, none of us had done any hardcore tourism of the area in years and years. Here are a few photos from the weekend.

Here's my dad, isn't he the cutest? I made him wear the birthday boy badge to dinner.

We went to fort something or other and checked out the big guns.

Dan and I at the Golden Gate Bridge.

We took public transportation to the California Academy of Sciences (aka the new aquarium). Dan developed a fear of trolleys. He was sure he was going to get run over. While we were on the train, a cop came through to randomly check for tickets. We didn't know we had to keep our transfers after getting on, and Dan was escorted off the train by a seriously tough looking cop. He had one foot out the door before finally coming up with his transfer, deep in a pocket!

Dan and I found a cupcake shop in town that sold Martha Stewart acclaimed cupcakes. A perfect after birthday dinner treat.

Aunt Judy and Grandma came in from Walnut Creek to have a delicious seafood birthday dinner with us.

And that's all, folks! San Francisco is a fun city, very different from both Santa Barbara and Seattle. It was terrific to get the whole family together (well, those of us who aren't gallivanting around Central American volcanoes right now...). Happy birthday Daddy! Here's to 60 more.
