A week alone

We interrupt our regularly scheduled program to bring you: a week alone!

That's right, Dan had hardly landed from Alaska before he took off again. This time it was for the glamorous destination of... Baltimore! Which left Nory and I on our own for the week (he gets back tonight, theoretically).

We have done pretty well on our own this week. It definitely seems to be easier the older she gets, and boy howdy let me tell you, when Nory became an independent walker all of our lives improved in triplicate. She is almost totally self entertained around the house now. Of course, at the end of the day, I find most of my kitchen items in the bathroom, and this morning I discovered some bath toys in my underwear drawer... but it is worth the few minutes of clean up every night to have her be so content.

If you were a fly on the wall this morning in our house you would have heard this repeated over and over: "mommy-mommy-mama-mommy-mama-mama-mommy!" Then when she sees me, she sprints towards me and gives me a huge hug and kiss. It is hard to keep your heart from melting when you hear the mommy war cry and see those little feet pitter pattering towards you accompanied by a great big smile. I know she misses daddy, and when I accidentally say "daddy" she looks around frantically trying to find him. But we both seem to be surviving with just the two of us.

That being said, I am extremely grateful that we only have to do this a few times a year!

Glad it's going well. She's a cutie! I love it when they walk too. Moira is at the exceptionally frustrated she can't walk stage. Ah, well. Soon enough I suppose. take care.
