Waiting for Daddy

Today, we are waiting for Daddy. He is on his way home from South Bend, Indiana. He is taking the loooooooooooooooong way home - because as it turns out, it is amazingly difficult to get in and out of South Bend, Indiana.

Yesterday morning Nory and I took Dan to the airport at 5am. He was supposed to fly from Santa Barbara to Denver to Chicago to South Bend. However, apparently in the rest of the world, the weather is not sunny and 70 in the middle of March. The flight from Denver to Chicago (all flights from Denver to Chicago, actually) was canceled. So Dan ended up flying from Denver to Detroit, renting a car, and driving 3 hours to South Bend, barely making it in time for dinner with some of the faculty.

Today after Dan's interview, he left the hotel to drive to the airport... and the rental car wouldn't start! After spending some frantic, un-quality time with Alamo Rent-a-Car's Roadside Assistance idiots, he finally had to just leave the car at the hotel and got a ride to the airport. He just squeaked through security in time to catch his flight, which boarded, and then sat on the runway for an hour. And then another hour. So, he missed his connection from Chicago to Denver. Luckily there was a late night flight from Chicago to LA, which he was able to get. It gets in at midnight... which leaves me about 15 minutes before I have to wake up the baby, put her in the car, and drive us 1 hour and 45 minutes to LAX.
