Where we are

My last blog post was at the beginning of April, and there are a couple of reasons why it took me so long to post a new one.

The first is that my beloved grandma Wilma passed away on April 9. She was a wonderful woman with a beautiful sense of humor, family, and soul, and she is missed. And also, she read my blog. Whenever I went too long without a post, I thought of how she must wonder what we were up to and want a picture of the kids and to hear about our days however uneventful. The blog is for me, but also a little it was for her. My 90 year old grandma who turned on her computer every day, logged in, and read the blog.

Also, in April, I went back to work a 4th day a week, so I'm now full time Monday through Thursday. Work had become super stressful because I just wasn't around enough to do my job well, and since I've gone back an extra day things are a million times better. Elliott turned two and the timing seemed right. I'm still off with the kids on Fridays and I think I'll keep that schedule until they are both in school. I feel good about this decision but poor ol' blog definitely took a back seat.

And also we lost the laptop for a while. But found it today.

Anyway, enough excuses, I'll try to fill in where I can. I hope to blog retroactively about the following events over the next week:

Nory turned 4
Elliott turned 2
Kitchen remodel
Trip to Arizona
Visit from Uncle Dan
Camping with Uncle Lindy and Auntie Elsa
The end of Nory's first year of preschool
Elliotts weaning trip to Wisconsin

See you soon!

My Son Is A Genius

My son is a genius. Ask me how I know.

Me: Elliott, how old are you turning in 10 days?
Elliott: TWO!

Me: Elliott, how many hands do you have?
Elliott: TWO!

Me: Elliott, how many kids are in our family?
Elliott: TWO!

Me: Elliott, what is 100 minus 98?
Elliott: TWO!

Me: Elliott, if you take Nory's age, and subtract your age, what do you get?
Elliott: TWO!

Me: Okay, Elliott, here is a tricky one. 10 minus 6, times 1/2 equals?
Elliott: TWO!

Yep, I expect big things from this kid ;)

March Round Up

Poor blog. I think I've been filling my blogging needs through Instagram, my poor handful of followers must be tired of me by now.

For the rest of you, here's March! Reverse chronological order :).

Using the potty.

Rules

We have some strange rules in our house.

Strange.

I started writing them down so I wouldn't forget them and the quirks they represent years in the future. Here they are.

    1. No gymnastics in the bathtub.
    2. No flying airplanes in the house.
    3. No flushing other people's poop.
    4. No flushing while someone is still sitting on the potty.
    5. No climbing on people who are holding wine or coffee.
    6. No putting feet in your mouth.
    7. No standing on muffin tins while playing with a stapler.
    8. No jumping down more than 3 (carpet landing) or 2 (wood landing) stairs at a time.
Anyone have any strange rules in your homes?

Santa Barbara Sand

Kids love sand. My kids are no exception. They can spend hours digging and throwing and running and jumping and burying.

Until one of them does a face plant and 30 seconds later the other one rubs her eyes with sandy fingers and then suddenly both of them are screaming with red sandy eyes and sandy mouths and sandy ears and Dan and I are rushing them back to the car so we can drive to our friends' house (thank you, Isaacs!) and dump them in a bathtub.

Glad we only took pictures of the fun part :).
