Alaska Part 1: Seward and Exit Glacer (Father's Day)

Okay, there are going to be a bunch of Alaska post coming up, because, well, Alaska is just so picturesque and we were on vacation which are two very bloggable things - not to mention that I think Dan only put his camera down to sleep. I will try to be succinct.

As I mentioned before, Nory did pretty darn good on the flight. She did average sleeping in a new place (I think three nights she woke up screaming in the middle of the night. Ugh, I thought we were beyond that.). She was also a pretty rotten napper.

We spent the morning down at the harbor, eating giant sticky buns in honor of Father's Day. Here are a few pics from around town.

Where am I, auntie Jen?

In the afternoon, after a frustrating not-napping hour or two, we all went to Exit Glacier. This is the only area in the Kenai Fjords National Park that is accessible by car. To see the rest requires a boat. The Exit Glacier hike is very short, easy, and popular; however No-Nap-Nory did not appreciate the scenery and spent the afternoon screaming. We turned back early.

Who me?

Have no fear! Remember, it doesn't get dark in Alaska until after midnight! So after going back home, eating dinner, and putting Nory to bed, Dan and I went back out to the Glacier. It was much less crowded at 9pm and just as beautiful. What a terrific date night.

All ready with binos and bear spray!

You will notice a trend regarding the general amazing hospitality offered by my brother and sister-in-law, including but not limited to: letting us take over their house, feeding us, showing us around, driving us everywhere, and to top it all off
babysitting on several occasions. If you need someplace to go for vacation this summer I highly recommend visiting Dan and Jen in Alaska! They are AWESOME!

What an adventure and scenery hard to describe! Thanks for sharing. Hope Nory catches up on sleep now that she's home again :)
