Happy Birthday Daddy

The week of Valentines-Dan's Birthday is always a busy one (full of extra calories) in our house and this year was no exception. Added to the usual chaos of celebrating two holidays in one week, we had 3 days with no furnace plus Elliott's first ever ear infection (at the end of 10 miserable days of a cold that just wouldn't go away).

On Thursday (Dan's Birthday-Eve) Uncle Lindy and Auntie Elsa came over for dinner to celebrate. Nory and Elsa made some mighty delicious shortbread to eat with berries and whipped cream.

What mommy? No way am I looking up from this delicious treat for a picture!

Friday, Dan's birthday, Nory and I started the morning by taking Elliott to the Doctor's office. After picking up our first ever baby amoxicillin, which has the exact same pink look/smell/(probably) taste as it did 30 years ago, the kids and I took cupcakes to Daddy's work. We accidentally interrupted a meeting where Dan was giving a talk, and instead of cutely and quietly dropping off the cupcakes and waving goodbye, we treated everyone to a 2-almost-3 year old tantrum of I want a BIG cupcake not a LITTLE cupcake!!! Happy Birthday Daddy.

On Sunday we threw a nice party here at the house. And it was so fun! We had a potluck, which took the stress off of me to cook - I just made a cake and we grilled brats and put baked beans in the crock pot. Plus when Elliott had had enough (which happens around 5:30pm these days), I just snuck upstairs and put him to bed! Ta-Da, the party continues!

Here is my pride and joy of the week, the ping pong cake. My first experiment with fondant (the table) and melted-into-shapes-chocolate (the net).

Nory had a grand old time with her friends, especially her favorite girl Susanna (Zanna). How could she not have fun with this cuteness?

Nory was dressed up for the occasion in her ping pong shirt!

And now I think I will sleep for a few weeks.
