Anyway, I am exhausted. And sorry, blog readers, since updating my blog is one of the things that falls by the wayside when I am exhausted. But this week was very full (mostly of fun things) and I thought I would share some of it.
First of all, here is a cake I made for the Superbowl - yes, it wasn't this week, but it is worth mentioning since Dan is from Wisconsin and how often do the Packers win the Superbowl? Neither of us are huge sports fans but we did love cheering for the Packers and seeing them win.
This week I took a training class at work. It was nice to get some training, I think we are technically supposed to take two weeks per year, and I hadn't taken any training in about 3 or 4 years. But this meant that I had to be at work every day this week (instead of my usual 3 days) and I had to be there from 8-5. I went in around 7:30 to give me time to check my email and respond to any emergencies. So I ended up getting to work about an hour before I normally would have, which meant that my daughter and husband were still both sound asleep when I left in the mornings. Which was a little demoralizing, not to mention I missed our family breakfast time!
Dan's mom, Jan, flew out last Saturday and has been watching Nory all week. This was such a blessing because otherwise Nory would have had to be in daycare all 5 days. Plus she got to spend a lot of great time with her grandma! Jan leaves tomorrow, I'm not sure what Nory will do without her. Nory really loves her grandma!
Monday was Valentine's Day. Dan and I were both working so celebrations of my favorite holiday were subdued. We gave Nory these wonderful play necklaces with matching bracelets and rings, and a pink purse to carry them around in. Thank you, Fred Meyer, for the best $6 gift ever.
Thursday was Dan's big birthday. By BIG I mean that he turned 30! (Finally!) I wanted to make the day really special but it was hard since we were both working. I did manage to celebrate it in food:
A coffee cake for breakfast.
Some peanut butter cookies to take to work. The trick to making cookies especially for Dan: cook them to perfection. Then add 3 minutes to the timer. He likes them extra crunchy!
Dinner at Saffron Kabobs Persian restaurant with Jan, Lindy, and Elsa in Bellevue. Yes, that is rice everywhere. Nory does a pretty good job at the table these days but she isn't quite good enough to keep all the rice on her fork between her plate and her mouth.
Here is a picture of the birthday boy with his new clothes. Thanks, Jan!
We're having a party for Dan's birthday plus open house next weekend so we can celebrate with friends then.
Whew!

Sounds like you made the best of a busy week. You should feel no guilt. Looks like all had fun!
(And we find w/toddlers, we have to leave large tips because of that rice mess thing. We eat asian a lot!)
Thanks for the updates and great pictures! Honestly it seems like Nory is growing up each week, less and less "baby" face. We love hearing about your days/weeks when we are so far away. Hugs and kisses.
Hey-oh kleins! Good posts recently. And another big happy-birthday smooch from us to dan as well.
