Nory the pacifist

Last night, Nory became a pacifist. Which is to say, that any time her formerly beloved pacifier got near her, she would scream like crazy and wave her fists in an angry acrobatic display. I hope the trend does not continue, although today we are 0 for 3. I had begun to feel quite smug about my daughter's incredible ability to be calmed by this little piece of plastic; the freedom it gave me to run errands, the 5 free minutes it could buy me in the grocery checkout line, and the way it would loll her to sleep at night. Truly this last item was the most incredible - as long as she was fed and had a clean diaper on at night, we had gotten to the point where we could wrap her in a blanket, give her a pacifier, set her in her moses basket, and go brush our teeth. By the time our sonicare 2 minutes were up, she would be sound asleep, pacifier discarded to the side of the basket.

Sigh.

Now we are back to walking bouncy laps around the house to calm our screaming child (unfortunately, when Nory became a pacifist, her cute little squeeky cries became screams). And I'm looking at a week where I no longer expect to get anything done!

Hey we have been doing bouncy laps around the house for the past three months...and then I noticed that it was taking more and more time to put him to sleep. I finally had enough when I realized I was working for 1 1/2 hours to get 45 min of sleep out of him. We ordered and read the baby whisperer solves all your problems....It is only the first day, but Charlie went to sleep tonight in 15 min! And I didn't have to pick him up at all. We will see how he does tomorrow, but I definitely recommend the book..especially to avoid accidental parenting.

She's back to her old self again! Pacifier and all. She's a pretty remarkable sleper - for now anyway - but I will keep that book in mind!! Thanks.
