My long time neighbor/godmother/friend Jan offered to throw us a shower, and her daughter Krista (who probably should have been a professional party planner) and her two daughters Katy and Abby put together an absolutely amazing party. There were adorable decorations, fabulous food, LOTS of presents, and (a bit to my surprise), many guests! Some that had known me since I was 5 years old, and some that I was meeting for the first time. But we felt very loved and are excited to bring our daughter into a world where so many people can't wait to meet her! My grandmother and aunt (soon to be GREAT grandmother and GREAT aunt!) even flew down for the weekend from the Bay Area, a super special treat.
There was a game-quiz with a lot of baby related questions (such as: how much does the average baby cost in the first year? what are the three most popular baby girl names in the 21st century? how many diapers does the average baby go through by age 2?). Guess who won the quiz? Dan! He only got 8 out of 25 correct, but managed to out-guess everyone else who participated. He even won a nice bottle of wine! I was surprised that he won... Dan's always been great at exams, but having never even held a baby I didn't expect him to win the baby quiz!
Dan put some photos up on picasa, which you can see here. Sadly, his computer died shortly after (if you know Dan, you understand that this is pretty tramatic), so we may not put up other pictures from the weekend for some time, if ever. We are going to the Apple hospital tonight in Thousand Oaks to try to get it fixed. Keep your fingers crossed!
One more trip to Ventura this coming weekend (Babys-R-Us, Target, REI) and we'll have everything we need to finish setting up the nursery and will officially consider ourselves ready - or as ready as we'll ever be!

So lovely! I'm impressed with that diaper cake! And you are so much more ready than we are...gulp. I'm not doing so great on getting the nursery ready, baby things ready, etc. I think Ricardo's gonna have to 'nest' for me, because it's not happening.
:) love you! So excited to meet my baby's bff.
p.s. do you think we could coordinate a shared birthday for our girls? ha ha...
AWESOME PARTY! So sad we had to miss it; will have to make up for it after she's born & can appreciate her weird aunt & uncle more. Hope the nicaraguan outfit wasn't too pink. We're getting anxious along with you guys so keep us posted...
