Not perfect, but not bad considering the lack of hair. And yes, those are baby Uggs - Dan brought them home from China last year!

Happy Halloween
Nory was a fish for Halloween (thanks to the Santa Barbara Costume Exchange where I turned last year's cow into this fish costume for free). We took her to the mall to go trick or treating after much debate. She doesn't really "get" trick or treating, and I wasn't going to let her eat the candy. On the other hand, opportunities to wear this adorable costume and have it be appropriately admired are limited.
Once she discovered that her bag had goodies in it, she kept crouching down to check out what was inside.
The comment we got the most was, "That is such an adorable little fish!" Followed by, "Did you make that yourself?" and lastly (this only happened a couple times and it was when she was crouched down checking out her loot), "Is that a fish... or a chicken?"
I'm so glad we took her. Next year should be even more fun. Plus I am still enjoying the reward of a miniature candy stash in our cupboard. Shhhhh Nory doesn't know about it.
She Eats
Nory eats more than any other kid her age that I know. She is also smaller than any other kid her age that I know. She makes up for her consumption with 4 poopy diapers per day, which is also more than any other kid her age that I know. We went to happy hour with some good friends of ours, and whenever Gavin (who is a much more particular eater) would turn his head, Nory's speedy fingers would reach out and nab some of his food.
She finished the kid's pasta and all of Gavin's peas and lima beans, and then moved onto his peaches. Yum. And Gavin is laughing in the picture, not screaming. He's a good food sharer. Ironically Gavin is at least a head taller than Nory.
A Walk In The Woods (And Other Friday Fun)
Friday is my day off. Friday will always be my day off, as long as I'm in control of that part of my life - I've been spoiled now and can't imagine ever having to work on Fridays again. This Friday Nory and I took Finny to Ellwood for a hurtle.
There were lots of these.
For this guy to play in.
And since it is Santa Barbara, of course all walks end here.
Ooh a plane!
Later in the day, after nap time, we met up with my friend Lisa to make an apple pie following the recipe (as much as I can follow a recipe, which isn't really my strong point in cooking) that Keren made with Charlie.
Which resulted in this.
And these two very happy chefs.
Hi, pie!
Did I mention that not working on Fridays is the best thing ever?
Food ut-oh
We have been told that we can't move anything perishable to Washington, so I've been cleaning out the fridge and freezer. That is recipe for disaster in and of itself, but pregnancy brain and I'd-rather-eat-mustard-for-dinner-than-have-to-take-my-toddler-to-the-grocery-when-she's-tired fears made this one even worse.
It inspired this diplomatic comment from my loving spouse: "Wow. I've never had peanut butter bacon before."
