Oops...

Okay so I am feeling a little bit guilty for turning Nory's car seat face forward on her birthday, for which your child is technically supposed to be 20 pounds... it turns out that my extrapolation of her weight was off by a couple pounds. We went to the doctor this morning for Nory's one year check-up and here were the results:

Height: 28 inches
Weight: 18lb 13oz
H.C.: 17 1/4 inches

She has slunk down to the 15th percentile in all categories! However, the doctor declared her "perfect" (what every parent loves to hear), a healthy, happy, and active one year old!

A couple funny conversations (how am I supposed to know, I'm new at this!).

Doctor: She looks great!
Me: Well, if you ignore the skid marks on her forehead and nose.*
Doctor: That's how we can tell they're healthy!**

...

Me: How much milk should she be drinking every day?
Doctor: Oh, it varies, but probably for her age she should be drinking about 24oz per day.
Me: Um, oh.
Doctor: How much is she drinking now?
Me: Oh, you know...
Doctor: [silence]
Me: About 10 ounces?***

*Funny story about those skid marks, they came into existence while I was watching Nory less than 1 foot from me. Oh, she'll be just fine climbing up on that bottom shelf in Sears! It's only 2 inches off the ground! She couldn't possibly hurt herself on that!

**This is why I love our pediatrician.

***Seriously, if she drank 24 ounces of milk a day I don't think she'd eat anything else!

Oh well! Sounds like a perfect little girl. And they eat what they eat. I used to worry because Peter ate too much (don't ask, you don't want to know). Now I worry, sometimes, that Moira doesn't really eat solids. But, I've slowly learned that unless there's something actually wrong with them, they eat what they need when they need it and they're fine.

Sounds like you've got a great doc. I got a comment like that about bruises on his forehead once too - probably around that same 12-18 month age. Must be true.
